‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9: Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan, and a Top Ten List

With “How I Met Your Mother” coming to a close very soon, it shouldn’t really come as a surprise that CBS already has most of the cast members preparing to ride off into the sunset.

So with that in mind, how about a promotional appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman”? While it may be hard to find much of an audience competing against the premiere of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” both “How I Met Your Mother” and Dave each have their fans. The five longtime cast members (Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, and Alyson Hannigan) all came out to read the Top Ten List, which you can see a preview for below.

If you’ve seen the Top Ten Lists over the years, then you probably know already that the writing for these is not entirely fresh; heck, most of them are completely predictable. The best line of the three goes to Josh for a Ted – Bob Saget joke, but Hannigan has a nice comment about a self-addressed stamped envelope that brings us back to our childhood, where seeing these discussed on TV was pretty commonplace.

New episodes of “How I Met Your Mother” are going to start airing again on CBS come Monday, February 24, and they will continue to air every Monday for the rest of the entire spring until the series finale rolls around come March 31. At that point, let’s just hope that you have any and all tissues ready at your disposal.
