‘Doctor Who’ season 8: Matt Smith wants to keep Alex Kingston from Peter Capaldi’s

The latest -Before we say farewell to the Matt Smith – New Orleans Wizard World stories that are out there at the moment, we have one final little nugget to share: What the 11th Doctor really thinks of the potential idea that he could see his most-notable love interest on “Doctor Who” end up in the arms of another.

Of course, we are speaking here of River Song, the woman who really captured the heart of this Doctor more than any other. While Smith has certainly wished Peter Capaldi all the luck and success moving forward, he would like the relationship between Alex Kingston’s character and his own to remain exclusive to them.

Take a look at what Smith had to say in full below, via DoctorWhoTV:

“I said this to Steven [Moffat], I was like, ‘Listen, just don’t. Just not Alex. Anyone else, but don’t give him River’ – but Peter is the Doctor now so hey, what can I do? … I think that Steven will be planning things that are going to unfold over years. I think he’ll reinvent the folklore, and it will become Peter’s folklore. But I am really proud of the fact that Alex was part of number Eleven’s life. My wife!”

In the end, we feel that Moffat will probably respect what Smith is saying here, but probably did not really have any major plans to do it in the first place. It makes things much more interesting if each version of The Doctor in turn has their own story to tell, and there are plenty of interesting tales regarding this character that are out there involving a myriad of other things and people. Capaldi’s #12 needs his own River Song, and hopefully we will find them very soon.
