‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 4 spoilers: Details on black-and-white episode revealed!
Typically when you have a new episode of “Pretty Little Liars” coming up, it is easy to get a good bit of insight about what is going to happen in advance. One of the primary reasons for that is ABC Family normally releases fairly detailed synopses for their new episodes at least a week or so before they air. That allows for an opportunity to know what is around each turn … at least to a certain extent.
But with next week’s “Shadow Play,” the producers decided to be much more secretive. Why is that? For one, the last thing that they wanted to do was give anything substantial away about this special episode, and they also have a very specific publicity plan in mind here. The entire episode, with a few exceptions, will be black and white. That’s an homage both to the passions of the creative team, and most likely Aria and Ezra’s love of the medium.
Now, we can also finally give you the fully synopsis of what you can expect. Just be warned that there are spoilers ahead:
“Emily, Hanna and Spencer are concerned for Aria as they watch their friend crumble after learning shocking news about Ezra. Not knowing what is true or what to trust, Aria goes looking for answers, not wanting to believe this revelation to be true. While concerned for Aria, Spencer is not doing so well herself. Trying to prove to her parents and Toby that she can kick the habit on her own, Spencer has to be careful because one misstep could send her to rehab. But can Spencer really rein it in, or will her constant curiosity and drive be her undoing? Meanwhile, Paige has had enough with Emily’s secrets and is determined to stop it.”
So there you have it: The walls are going to start to crumble around Aria in this episode, just as you would expect them to. The biggest key to this story will be just seeing how Aria does react, given that this cannot be something that is even remotely easy for someone to digest … even someone who is as strong as she has been at times.
