‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 4, episode 19 preview: ‘Shadow Play,’ and a black and white story

More scoop -Next week on “Pretty Little Liars” moving forward, the story is going to be shifting over to black and white … literally. “Shadow Play” is a very different story than almost anything that the writers have done before … literally. For example, almost the entirety of this story is going to be told using black and white. This is a very experimental twist for the show, especially when it comes to an episode in the middle of the season.

What are some of the stakes right now? Think along the lines of the following: We are literally only a few little movements away from the Liars starting to figure out that Ezra could actually be either “A” or a part of the team. Spencer in particular is just about there. If that reveal happens during this episode and it comes off as cheesy, there could be trouble.

As for what else you can expect to see, think along the lines of plenty of Ali. After being more or less abandoned by Shana on this past episode of the show, she will actually have to rely on the Liars much more than she has in the past.

All in all, though, the one thing that you can expect from this episode more than anything else is a new feeling that you don’t always get from the show. it’s an opportunity to see something stylized and fun … and you also better expect ABC Family to promote the heck out of this over the next few days. It’s not that often that they get an event like this with any of their shows, so why not take advantage?
