‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9: More on ‘Rally’; plus, how Britney Spears was lifeline

Get ready -We know that it’s a bummer that “How I Met Your Mother” is making you wait until February 24 in order to see the next new episode … but how about a little more in the way of details about what will be in it?

While CBS did release a full synopsis for “Rally” earlier this week (which you can see here), showrunners Craig Thomas and Carter Bays were keen enough to reveal a little bit more about the plot that is ahead for it in a Reddit AMA that they conducted a little earlier this month. Specifically, the quote below comes from Craig:

[We] will see more and more flash-forwards in the remaining 8 episodes. There’s an episode called “RALLY” coming up in a few weeks where we do a whole bunch — everyone gets a flash forward peek into the near and far future…

As for some other interesting highlights from this AMA, the two actually credit Britney Spears significantly for bringing attention to their show and keeping them from being on the bubble anymore. Also, the role of Robin was pitched at one point to Jennifer Love Hewitt, but she opted to sign up for “Ghost Whisperer” instead. At this point, we’re happy that Cobie Smulders landed it, given that we really cannot imagine the show without her.

Also, the two hinted that there may be a reference to Robin Sparkles coming up, even if there is not an entire episode all about her. They were also cagey about seeing more Ashley Benson as Barney’s half-sister Carly, and of course about how the story is going to end. They did suggest, though, that there are still twists to come.
