‘The Bachelor’: Chris Harrison on Juan Pablo Galavis – Sharleen Joynt dilemma
There are some things related to “The Bachelor” that we are still trying to figure out. What in the world is happening with Juan Pablo Galavis and Sharleen Joynt is one of them. This is a relationship that, at least in theory, should be over already. After all, she really does not have much of anything that appeals to what he claims that he is looking for. She is a very independent woman, one that is successful in a career that requires lots of traveling, and she is also not even currently living in America. Add to this her general ambivalence over having children.
Yet, even in spite of all of this, Juan Pablo still decided to hand her a rose! What in the world is going on here? That is something that we are still trying to figure out. Chris Harrison weighed in this week in a TV Guide interview, and the show’s host suggested that one of the primary issues happening here is that this may be a good example of someone wanting something that they really cannot have based on what actually works within your life:
“As much of an enigma that Juan Pablo can be at times, she is more so in a fascinating way. How is she still on the show? He’s so captivated by her, but she all but turned down the first rose — you watch their one-on-one time and it’s really awkward. I think everyone on social media agreed the first kiss was just bizarre. I think it might be you want what you can’t have, and she’s an unattainable, worldly woman he has to chase, whereas with the other ones it’s happening maybe too easily. But you see him with Nikki, Clare or even Andi, and it seems so natural. And you see him with Sharleen and it’s like, ‘What?'”
Sharleen now at least seems to have the potential of someone who makes it down to the final six or even hometown dates, mostly because of the sole fact that she made it through the one-on-one date. That is one of the bigger tests. The only problem now is going to be arriving at some of the later parts of the competition where things start to get very serious.
What do you think: Is Sharleen going to make it far this season, and do you think that she could actually be a “Bachelorette” contender if she doesn’t win this season? Frankly, I’m surprised that someone with Sharleen’s background and resume would even consider doing something like The Bachelor. She only did it on a dare or a bet. But she can’t be serious about it. JP is just simply not in her league and I think she’s known it since Day #1. It is only a matter of time until she leaves the show by her own decision.
