‘The Walking Dead’ season 4 spoilers: Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, and ‘After’ scoop

After -Is there a more perfect title for “The Walking Dead” following the prison massacre than “After”? The February 9 episode is in some ways picking through the wreckage of everything that has transpired, whether you are talking about the characters turning in some ways into nomads, or Maggie dealing with the loss of her father Hershel (or being separated from Glenn). The group is scattered, and this may be the most desperate and isolated situation that many of these characters have encounter yet (and that is saying something for this show).

While the official synopsis below for “After” may not be the most revealing in the world, it does at least suggest that there is a debate that is going on internally, in addition to all of the circumstances that the characters are facing in the world:

As Rick deals with old wounds, members of the prison have to come to terms with their new environment and ask themselves if survival alone is enough.”

Unfortunately, we do not expect this episode to be an indictment or an indication on the rest of the season. Instead, it is more of a stepping stone. At some point, we are going to have a chance to meet new regular Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), and with that arrival is going to come  very different dynamic. As for whether or not there is a big bad coming on the horizon, for the time being walkers, and survival, are the biggest concerns. There is not seemingly going to be another incarnation of The Governor or another villain soon.
