Jimmy Fallon, Mitt Romney team up to slow-jam the news (video)

Late Night with Jimmy FallonWho knew that Mitt Romney had such a sense of humor about himself? While there were days when you would see the former Massachusetts Governor and Presidential candidate go on the late-night talk-show circuit, that really stopped at around 2011 as the Presidential election this past time was starting to gear up.

Since he ended up losing to President Obama, Romney has mostly stayed away from the spotlight … at least until the last couple of months. In a move that was probably designed just to promote his new Netflix documentary “Mitt,” which chronicled his two attempts at running for the White House, Romney decided to appear on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” this week and take part in what is a fan-favorite sketch that the likes of Brian Williams and even President Obama himself have done in the past: Slow-Jam the News.

Through the entire video, you could see a little twinkle in Romney’s eye that probably suggested that even he realized that what he was doing here was in some ways ridiculous, as there were Justin Bieber jokes, frequent “oh, yeahs” from Jimmy, and also jokes about him doing the “Gangnam Style” dance thrown in here. Nonetheless, he stood there, took it, and even told a few little jokes himself as the video started to near the end.

One thing that we will at least give Jimmy a little bit of credit for at the moment is spreading some of the comedy around to all political parties, much in the way that “Saturday Night Live” has this year. Obama has had some moments that make him easy comedy targets, as have some Republicans like Romney and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
