When you hear the words “Natalie Dormer,” it is pretty easy to automatically picture her “Game of Thrones” character of Margaery Tyrell. Thanks to that, there is also one other thing that is pretty easy to forget about: That in real life, Dormer actually has a very different head of hair. Like Emilia Clarke, she films the entirety of her scenes in an elaborate wig rather than trying to make up her hair in that style every single day, and it serves as just one extra part of her TV identity. (Thanks to that, she may be able to roam the streets a bit more undetected.)
However, now Dormer has yet another new look that you may have seen online already: Half her head is shaved! What’s the reason for that? She is playing the role of Cressida in “Mockingjay,” the third part of “The Hunger Games” movie franchise. Speaking about this very thing to Entertainment Weekly, she explained that this was quite an unusual transformation for her to take on:
“It’s been hidden for 3 months. It happened back in October. I was, you know, waiting for the right moment … I’ve never shaved my head before. My man has his head shaved, so… I’d rub it and think, ‘This is gonna be me!’”
Dormer is already hard at work on the movie, which is serving as a nice little break from her time around Europe filming the HBO series. Filming for that show’s fifth season will start in the spring / early summer, provided of course that Margaery is still alive at the end of it. If there is one thing we’ve learned about this show over the years, it is that anything can happen, and anybody can live or die.
Dormer has also recently appeared on an episode of CBS’ “Elementary,” but unfortunately, she is not going to appear there at any further point this season.
