‘Hart of Dixie’ season 3, episode 9 review: Did Zoe accept Wade and Vivian?

The real point of “Hart of Dixie” Monday night seemed to be almost about one singular topic: Whether or not Dr. Zoe Hart was going to be able to come to terms with the fact that Wade, a guy who she once loved and cared about, was trying to enter into a relationship with her cousin. Vivian Wilkes seemed to at least be interested in being with him at first, but Zoe then did everything in her power to scare her off … mostly because she was the only person unwilling to accept the fact that Wade had changed.

Zoe admitted to Vivian later that she didn’t have feelings for Wade anymore, but she still “went nuts” when she found out the news for the first time. So with all of this in mind, it seems like Wade and Vivian are going to give this whole relationship a chance now … with Zoe’s blessing.

As for the B-story of this episode, think of that as a pretty fun story about Lavon’s new crisis that actually had him working with George: A potential merger of towns that got most of the residents up in arms. Rose was back this week, once again trying to pursue her own future, and getting herself involved in the story. She’s the sort of character that is perfect in small doses, and she fit well into the story this time as she chased after her dream of being a journalist.

All in all, this was a fun return for the show, even with the emotional parts like Lynly worried about her relationship with George. It doesn’t always feel like a lot happens in “Hart of Dixie” episodes, but we do appreciate that the show seems to understand what it is, and what sort of stories its audience wants to see. Grade: B.
