‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: A few more teasers on ‘Slapsgiving 3’

In a matter of 24 hours, “How I Met Your Mother” is going to be back up on the air with an episode that has been years and oh-so-many slaps in the making: “Slapsgiving 3.” We know that there are some who are elated and over the moon at the opportunity to see the end of this long-discussed slap-bet, but there are also a contingent of other people out there who feel like this is more of a distraction while we wait for the mother. (Personally, we’re in the former camp.)

But there is something interesting that you should take note of now before the episode airs: Just because this episode is themed around a slap does not necessarily mean that it is going to be the last time someone will be getting struck across the face. Just take a look at what co-creator Craig Thomas said in a post on Twitter:

“Some folks are assuming Monday is the “final slap” — just want to say: Not necessarily. #2left #HIMYM”

Just in case that’s not enough good stuff for you, Thomas also shared one other little behind-the-scenes nugget that should be interesting for many people out there:

“Slapsgiving 3 has perhaps the single strangest visual effect we’ve ever done on #HIMYM. #Monday”

By the time that this story comes to a close, you should be rejoicing … if you’re a fan of the slap, that is. Even if you find all this a little silly (and why are you watching the show then?), there is always the possibility of something else comical taking place.
