‘Supernatural’ season 9 spoilers: What happens with Misha Collins’ Castiel now?
The great news for Castiel on “Supernatural” is that after long hoping that he was going to find a way to get his powers back, the character is going to get precisely what he asked for moving forward. However, this is where we turn to the bad news: He’s not out of the woods just yet. As a matter of fact, him having his abilities back could ultimately mean more trouble for him as he struggles to figure out just what his place in this world is going to be.
Speaking in a new interview to TVLine, showrunner Jeremy Carver does his part to lay out what will be the Castiel crisis moving forward:
“[Castiel will find] himself in the angelic fray more than ever and at a point of decision he never considered a few short months ago. It’s going to be a little of a be-careful-what-you-wish-for [situation].”
On the standpoint of one of the other angels out there, Gadreel is going to find himself in a tricky position now that he has seemingly accepted his position to be Metatron’s new minion-of-sorts. While it may have looked at first like a great idea in theory to be a part of this operation, it is going to end up having much more significant consequences than he first realized. Jared Padalecki is going to be busy throughout the second part of the season, in between trying to tackle this and also touching on the issue of whether or not Sam is still in there.
As for a bonus scoop, there are going to be some beloved characters from the past who turn up again on the show … but Carver is being very tight-lipped on that for now.

I’m so, so tired of this. “Be careful what you wish for”…what an AMAZING COMPLETELY NEW trope in spn. *sarcasm off* No seriously, please try to at least not entirely ruin the second half. Give Sam some serious character exploration, a decent story line and a love interest that doesn’t have to die to explain his eternal man-pain. Give Dean something besides the taking-care-of-my-brother plot, give him a reason to let go of his unhealthy dependency sh*t, and god help me, stop ruining Castiel and the Cas/Dean relationship. Thank you.

Carver is probably gonna have Dean find the stupidest way possible for him to get rid of Gadreel and make Sam return, because that’s what they always do, even with Lucifer. That said, the Swan Swong episode ending was pure epicness because of the way that whole season, the whole SHOW was built up until that point. The only villain that they got rid of in a completely flawless way was Azazel. That finale was the greatest, even better than Swan Song, imo.
If Carver is going to keep doing this shallow ‘I have to take care of my little brother’ quest with Dean and make Sam completely helpless until Dean comes along, then the show wil continue going on the downward spiral it has gone on since Kripke left. How about you make Dean turn his attention elsewhere, by force if you must, rendering unable to help Sam, and at the same time, we see how Sam struggles within his mind, within his body, to be free. That’s the concept I always loved about the show’s demonic possession approach, and I think it could serve well here, even though they’ve completely screwed up the lore they had previously established about angels and vessels.
Meanwhile, Cas should stop being the Winchesters’ guardian angel, and shouldn’t even try to help Dean or make contact with him again. He should focus on Metatron. I want him try to help the fallen angels, but see himself forced to kill many of his brothers and former friends . Give him a real conflict, and not just ‘setting things straight’.

I disagree I love it when Cas and Dean are together and fighting. They have chemistry together and I love watching them. THis show is about the brothers and has started and still is Dean watching out for his brother. I dont see that changing and it will show that when this show ends although I hope not soon but that will always be the storyline. I hate it when Cas and Dean dont talk or are away from each other. I like it much better when they are fighting side by side and protecting each other. In spite of all the other things in this show it really is about family, not just by blood but family in all ways. It was with Bobby and it is with Cas and Kevin as Dean himself said in Ep 2 so I hope they stay together protecting each other

I agree when you say its better to have Dean and Cas working together. Now that Dean knows he got scammed by the Angel possessing Sam, he should come clean to Cas and try to get Sam back but since Sam “knows” what Dean did I would like to see Dean trying to get his brother back on his side and see the internal struggle for Sam to get control back of his body.
Sam seeing Dean and Cas working together should drive that “knife” deeper into his heart, making feel more, like always, like he has prove himself to Dean.
Or he can just let go, which would land him in heaven. Once in heaven, realizing he can actually help Dean, conspires with that guy that was very computer savvy and had helped them out when they were in heave, anyone know his name?
They could team up, help Dean get the angels back into heaven. Once in heaven, they will need a leader and they spring the cage with Michael and Lucifer. Once freeing them, the apocalypse is back on track and we start this struggle all over again…. and so the show wont have to end and my Tuesdas will always be my favorite day of the week. :D

AMEN!!!! I thought we were going to see Cas be human…. what did we get, one episode where he is a man whore, losing his virginity to a reaper. Shmh.
Dean should have never lost Ben and Lisa, theyshould have let Sam close the gates of hell, and it was too soon for Cas to get his powers bad AND they shouldn’t have killed off Kevin!
What happened to “every prophet had an Arc angel as their guardian and to threaten one brought on the wrath…blah blah blah”

Gadreel is out of Sam in episode 10 so not Jared will not be busy with the Gadreel plot, the other actor will likely be back to play him in eisode 14 which is Cas/angel centric I belive. My guess is Cas will take the left over grace from Sam to track Gadreel and deal with him and Metatron. Sam doesnt play any more part in that storyline. As far as spoilers go Sam will be back in episode 10 and once Gadreel free will go back to being the researcher in the MOTW episodes. Carver has not spoken of any storylines for Sam this season other than the ones that have already played out or been dropped.
