‘The Sing-Off’ winners Home Free release new Hunter Hayes medley video

Home Free is wasting no time at all following their victory on “The Sing-Off” to follow in the footsteps of the season 3 champs Pentatonix: They are already starting to release some covers and medleys onto YouTube. This vocal group probably has found more acclaim doing this than even the NBC show, and thanks to that, Home Free have a pretty nice blueprint to follow. While it still remains to be seen if Home Free can have the same sort of cross-genre appeal, they are at least doing something that is very different from what most other country acts are these days.

What makes their Hunter Hayes medley video below pretty special is that it is a pretty nice little hodgepodge of everything that we saw from the group on the show: There is some humor, some sincerity, tight harmonies, and some innovation on what we always consider to be “country.” The songs featured in here are “Everybody’s Got Somebody but Me,” “Wanted,” and “I Want Crazy,” The latter in particular you probably remember from their performance on the show.

While this video is clearly the most high-production of the videos that the group has put online, they do have some others out there, including the cover of “Wake Me Up” that we’ve also included below. While Avicii’s music may technically be classified as “dance,” he’s got a surprising amount of country crossover potential in there.

Home Free has a debut album entitled “Crazy Life” that you can pre-order now, and it will be released on February 18. One other interesting thing about it, in referencing Pentatonix, is that Avi Caplan from the group is going to be making a guest appearance in their version of “Ring of Fire” on the disc.
