‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: The slap heard all around the world

Are you ready for the “How I Met Your Mother” slap bet to be taken to yet another level? Then we imagine that you’re going to find quite a bit of entertainment in the show’s first episode back on Monday, January 13. Just in case you have not heard it just yet, let’s start off here with the glorious title: “Slapsgiving #3: Slappointment.” The slap bet shall be fulfilled!

At the end of the midseason finale “Bass Player Wanted,” it was teased that this moment was going to be happening, and this photo certainly suggests that this will be a slap so powerful, Barney’s ancestors will feel it through the power of time-travel. Marshall has been preparing for this for some time … seriously. There will be moments and jokes throughout this episode about the lengths in which he has gone to prepare for this big moment.

This is probably going to be one of those episodes where it’s easy to sit down and question whether or not narrator Ted is a particularly reliable guy; but, at the same time, we simply want to believe that he is, much in the way that we want to believe all of our own relatives’ stories. So even if he is embellishing things a little bit here, we’re fine with it so long as it is entertaining. With that being said, we are still very curious to find out if The Mother will do the same thing when telling stories to her kid during the 200th episode.
