‘Bones’ season 9 spoilers: A new story for the Squinterns, and for Emily Deschanel’s Brennan

Take a look -Have you been hoping for a new squintern story on “Bones” season 9? If so, you’re going to be pretty excited by the following news.

When the show returns in 2014, one of the tales that the writers and executive producer Stephen Nathan are looking to tell is what happens when someone new enters the Jeffersonian who is exceptionally talented, but has some restrictions placed on him mostly because of where he came from. This is an interesting story to us because there are so many international politics at play, and it sounds like he will have a somewhat-contested relationship with Emily Deschanel’s Brennan.

Speaking to TVLine about this character in-depth, here is what Nathan had to say:

“He’s someone who came to the country seeking asylum. He was a very, very prominent forensic anthropologist in his own country, but [in the U.S.] he’s a student because he has to get his degree again. He has to work his way up to a position that he already occupied for many years. He feels that he’s Brennan’s equal, but Brennan really doesn’t feel the same.”

Sound intriguing to you? Nathan added that the character’s country of origin is not from the Middle East, but somewhere within our own hemisphere. We personally believe that there are only a few possible candidates for this, but we’ll keep our guess at bay until it’s revealed on the show. Regardless of whether we’re right or wrong, we’ll still share it with you a little later.

“Bones” will return with some new episodes in January, where we will also meet the Ghost Killer (or at least hear about him or her) in a much greater capacity. This is the de facto replacement for Pelant, and should carry the label of “Big Bad” at least however much that “Bones” accommodates for such things.
