‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: When will Barry Allen’s first scenes be shot?

“Arrow” has managed to somehow pull off something amazing for their upcoming second season. Even though the show has a cast that already includes a geek icon like Summer Glau, there is still someone that fans are clamoring to see more than any other: Barry Allen. The Flash is a character that is enormously popular in the DC universe, and there is a good reason to be excited to see just what the guy will end up bringing to the show this year. Will it be exciting? We definitely imagine that it will be, as it is also going to potentially lead into a spin-off series all about the character next year.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg notes that it is not going to be very long until production starts on the character’s first episode, which means that there is not going to be too much of a wait now until the casting for the part is likely announced:

“We’ll have to have somebody by Sept. 30, which is when we start shooting [his first] episode. So there is that timeline. But it’s been a really exciting process just getting to meet so many fantastic actors and seeing the enthusiasm that so many people around town have for the character. It’s just amazing — I have pictures of myself at age 4 holding a Flash and a Superman doll. That I’m sitting here writing the Flash and Green Arrow now, it’s more than my little nerd heart can bear sometimes.”

This role will have a more formal backdoor pilot next year, and is going to serve in some ways as the bridge for the show to introduce way more in the realm of superhuman characters after not really having any at all in the first year.
