Jimmy Smits talks ‘Dexter,’ ‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6, and more
Do you want to hear over 40 minutes of Jimmy Smits talking about his work? If so, you’ve probably come to the right place. The accomplished actor was the latest guest on the official “Dexter” Wrap-Up Podcast with Scott Reynolds, and it serves as a nice deep dive into the man, his acting style, and what it meant to him to play an iconic role like Miguel Prado.
We’d be here all day trying to write out everything that the two parties discussed, but we appreciate Smits’ insight as someone who constantly feels as though season 3 of “Dexter” was underrated as was his performance as Miguel. We put the year only second on our list of favorite seasons behind season 2, and even slightly ahead of the fourth season featuring John Lithgow as the Trinity Killer.
For those of you who love “Sons of Anarchy,” Smits also talks in the very beginning about returning to the show for season 6 as Nero, and the sort of ambiguity that comes with taking a long story arc like this:
“When you take on an arc like this, you really don’t know what’s going to happen. That has a lot to do with the fact that the season really hasn’t been plotted out totally to the end.”
Whether you like him as Nero, Miguel, or some of his other characters on “L.A. Law” or “NYPD Blue,” it is still a great way to burn through some chores this afternoon while you listen to it. You can also download some of Reynolds’ other podcasts here, as they include chats with such people as Lithgow, Colin Hanks, and Julie Benz alongside Jaime Murray.
While “Sons of Anarchy” will not return until fall, “Dexter” comes back on Showtime Sunday night. For more on this, check out the super-creepy new teaser over at the link here.
