ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6 spoilers: Nathan Fillion on Castle / Beckett complications
While “Castle” may be billed as a mystery, it is in other ways a love story between two people who, while very different, are in many ways looking for the same exact thing. The problem here comes in that they don’t know how to express it to each other at times, and they let external factors (or even such issues as timing) get in the way of what could be a speedier road to a happy ending. After all, it took Castle and Beckett a full five years in order to be together, and given the right circumstances, this could have happened far earlier.
It is some of these complications that lead us to believe that it is possible that Beckett will not accept Castle’s proposal, citing the conflict of the moment involving a job, and also her belief that she still does not really know him underneath the surface. While Nathan Fillion still does not know whether or not Stana Katic’s character says yes or no, he did say the following about the situation to TVLine:
“That’s one of the things that Andrew has done very well, in that it’s very realistic that two people who really ought to be together maybe don’t see it. Or the timing isn’t right … These are things that happen in real life. That life gets complicated. That it can never be easy. This is something, I think, that we can all relate to. It’s a truth in that everyone is comfortable with.”
Considering that Katic has already admitted that she knows the answer to the proposal question, you have to believe that there will be some sort of answer coming concerning the proposal pretty early on in the season.
Do you think Beckett is going to say yes … or is the timing all wrong? If you want to see what is happening right now in the writing process, be sure to head over to the link here.

Beckett will turn the proposal down because she will think it is Castles desperate last ditch attempt to get her to stay in New York. In that final scene Castle doesn’t look like a man who truly wishes to commit himself to another for the rest of his life; rather, he looks like a boxer trying to keep his legs under him after his opponent hooks him with a powerful punch to the head. Beckett will see that.
However, when considering the job offer Beckett (and Marlowe) should remember that in season 2(?), Castle turned down an extremely lucrative offer to write several James Bond books so that he could stay in New York and remain in Beckett’s professional and personal sphere of existence.
I know, I know! Coincidentally he was offered a large contract to write more Nikki Heat novels, but that is all it was- a coincidence.
Anyway…season 6 will/should be interesting.
