‘The X Factor’ USA / UK notes: A Fifth Harmony cover, Sharon Osbourne rumors
One day after our exclusive “X Factor” interview with Tate Stevens (who gave us some pretty interesting insight behind the scenes of the show), we’re back with some of our all-familiar notes … and we start with a new cover from the girl-group sensation known as Fifth Harmony.
As a way to keep the spotlight on them while working on their debut album, Dinah Jane, Normani, Camila, Ally, and Lauren have released their new cover video. What’s the song choice this time? They have already covered such contemporary artists as Rihanna and Ed Sheeran, and this time around they went with a country-pop artist in Taylor Swift. This version of “Red” really does not have a country vibe to it at all, though, as the ladies focus (of course) on the harmonies while also pouring as much emotion as possible into the song.
Hopefully, we will also have some original Fifth Harmony music to share within the span of the next few months. It would obviously benefit the group and Simon Cowell to have a disc out by the new season in the fall.
Sharon’s return – Now, we turn back to the continuing rumors that Sharon Osbourne could return to the British “X Factor” as a judge for the first time since 2007, and with a contract valued at over two million pounds. This would make her the show’s highest-paid judge reportedly, and it could be enough to get her to cross over.
Here is what a source had to say about the negotiations to the People:
“Sharon will be an X Factor judge and it is only a matter of days before the deal is finalised. She is being paid a hefty sum of £2million as Cowell is desperate to have her on the show. She is also expecting to earn half a million more in book and publishing deals. There is no way she would turn down such a well-paid job.”
Ever since the news first broke of trouble in her relationship with Ozzy, Sharon has been extremely quiet on social media and in interviews. Her family life could be a factor in her decision, as could the fact that she has a full-time job already on “The Talk,” and we just don’t know if she could handle doing two regular shows on two separate continents.

I love Fifth Harmony. And I am not lesbian as a lot of other fandoms like to call us. I just found out a song they recorded-“Miss Moving On”. Written by Lindy Robbins and some other writers. Wish we could hear a sample. I loved all of 5H’s covers except this one. For some reason they can’t cover Taylor Swift very well. Otherwise the rest were great. I was kinda hoping Normani chose Beyonce though. Oh well. Maybe next time. I can’t wait for an album and tour. Sad thing is if your in L.A. or Miam you can meet the girls. But I live in D.C. can they do a tour?!

Anna, I find it interesting that you are so aware of the girls’ accounts since it’s very clear that you do not like them.
And for the last time, a FAN BOUGHT NORMANI FOLLOWERS. I witnessed it happen. We were rallying to get Normani to 200k on a specific day, and someone (with good intentions bu t bad move) decided to buy her followers. She was as shocked as we were when her numbers kept going up. She acknowledged this and was aware that the followers will eventually get deleted. I have followed 5H’s account since day 1 and I can assure everyone that that account is accurate as the number of followers goes up steadily each day. No massive jumps. And if they bought followers in their official account, you would see large numbers of followers deleted as well and we don’t see that.
So just because you say it, Anna, it doesn’t make it a fact. You made a weak attempt to say something negative about them. They aren’t fake. Stop hating and focus on something you like, why don’t you?

I heard rumours of Rihanna or Carrie Underwood joining the show, but I guess they’re not true. I watched for Britney. I’m sad she left. I can’t watch if they choose Sharon. She’s not a recording artist and record producer. She’s just married to ozzy. I’m hoping for a bigger name judge…I actually like Fifth Harmony and I’ll buy their music if it’s good. I just followed Camila Cabello on twitter. Is it wrong that the only girl I don’t like in that group is Lauren? She seems a little mean.

@Racheal, you’ve painted a fairly accurate picture of the bickering that goes on and has been going on since the ‘Live Shows’ and I believe @Brielle has accurately pinpointed the cause and why 5H has been getting hate from all directions, but your last statement is not on point. 5H had nothing to do with the buying of Twitter followers and as of yet, there’s no indication that what happened on two of the girl’s personal accounts has carried over to the main 5H account.

@Racheal You know what they say; if you have haters that means you are doing something right! You can read through your own comment and see that most of the haters you are referring to are jealous lol. Keep hating because they will be the most successful act out of all Season 2 contestants! The Backstreet Boys even followed them and tweeted them today.

Many fandoms dislike each other. I think that is true with Emblem 3 and 5H fans (bitter over not being in finals + E3 fans make fun of 5h’s fans by calling them a lesbian fan club), Little mix and 5H fans (LM fans hope 5H flop and resent Simon for promoting 5H more), one direction and 5H fans (a lot of 1d fans dislike that the boys interact with Camilla + invited 5H to their concert while real fans have to pay; Camilla mentioned they had no tickets becuz sold out and Louis hooked 5H up with tix) and One direction and Emblem 3 fans (one direction fans make fun of e3 cuz they can’t sing). Notice that a lot of fandoms dislike 5h. And the whole losing followers is interesting. I didn’t know that. Lol. I guess 5H reallly has to buy followers to seem popular. How fake

@Evan, I carefully read Tello’s post and can’t find anywhere in it where he/she put any act down. And I would say the same is true for myself. I challenge you to find any remark made here or elsewhere putting down one of the acts. As for XOXO being a better choice to release for their first single, Tello stated it was an opinion, one which I agree with. I’ve heard E3 sing it live and its a beautiful song. As for coming on here and posting, only when ignorant people post slanderous rumors or make assertions. Stop with that nonsense and you won’t see many posts from me, capiche? (:

Lol I’ve actually been reading these way back during the first live shows! I don’t know about Danni, but personally I do keep up with E3, 5H, and Carly. You’d probably be surprised to know that I even bought Chloe on iTunes just to help E3. Still don’t like it but my sister is a fan. Simon has way more important things to do than read what fans are saying I’m sure. Any information I put out is already made public so why would he or anybody else care. You seem to pay a lot of attention to what I comment on so perhaps you are a “troll” as well for following my comments @Evan?

I’m starting to wonder why Tello and Danni come on this site to comment about the x factor contestants, esp Fifth Harmony. How do you know about ‘xoxo’? you have all this information why aren’t you giving interviews to carter matt or someone else about the info you guys have? Do you monitor all the sites to see what people are saying about fifth harmony? Does Simon know you two trolls (or is it one person) are on here giving out information and defending 5H whilst putting down other x factor acts?

@Anna Normani warned everybody about this the day her followers rapidly increased so we knew it was coming. The followers were bought by a fan, and had nothing to do with her or the label. The fact is, some of her followers felt she was being under appreciated and complained that she always gets the least parts in every song. That’s why somebody decided to buy followers for her to make it balance out with the others. I think you are a fan of Emblem 3 and that’s probably why you feel some resentment towards the girls. If everybody had it their way, Carly would have won but you can’t blame the girls for making it into the finals. Their “anything could happen” performance is what did it for them. In my opinion, XOXO should have been E3’s first single and not Chloe. As for the popularity of 5H, why would anybody really know them yet? They are still working on their album and even One Direction wasn’t known by many until they released their first single. Just saying, it is way too early to say anything about Fifth Harmony. Let the girls release their first single, and then people can compare them with other established artists. Fifth Harmony shouldn’t be compared to Little Mix because that group has been out for more than a year now and are already working on their second album. They’ve already had promo tours, radio play, and concerts. Unfair to 5H because they are still in the studio.

No to Sharon. Simon Cowell is already recycling that girl Melanie from the Spice Girls and putting her on America’s got talent. She was on x factor australia. I guess Simon can’t find an American big name to join x factor usa…and as for Fifth Harmony, their covers have been amazing. Their performances weren’t that great on x factor. They were a mess vocally, especially Hero and We are never getting back together. Hardly any harmonies even though their name has harmony in it. That Ellie Goulding song saved them. It really is a shame America hasn’t embraced girl groups like the UK. And I don’t follow them on twitter and I had no idea they bought twitter followers.

@Anna, Another of the girls lost roughly 50k followers months before the drastic increase in Normani’s followers so we knew when her followers had their rapid increase a bot had been used and Normani was warned this would happen. Not much anyone could do but wait for the bubble to burst. One or more over zealous fans were responsible and doubtful any money was involved. As for the 5H account, its as valid as any other. Its been gaining 500 to +1000 followers daily for over 3.5 months with the last month averaging +1000 daily. 5H fans and supporters don’t think they are getting popular. The fact is that in social media 5H has been more popular for some time now and are gaining in popularity every day. I’ve been watching trend tags for awhile now as I see it as the only reliable predictor/indicator regarding Twitter accounts as ALL accounts are comprised of dormant, duplicate, and active followers. Most girls your age won’t admit to liking girl bands especially in the US. I can assure you some of your schoolmates both male and female, like 5H and if they become popular outside of social media, you will see that for yourself. I get that you’re frustrated Chloe isn’t doing that well at the moment and that your fan base was unable to keep it on iTunes top 100, I myself thought it would do better than it did. Chloe isn’t dead yet, it might take a bit more time than expected is all so don’t lose hope. (: I also understand your frustration that for 3 days Emblem3’s Twitter followers increased an average of 2500 but have since tapered off to pre-Chloe numbers while 5H once again, because of the steady +1000 Twitter followers gained daily, is again lapping them so you need to find some rationale other than facing reality. It’s not clear to me whether you’ve actually listened to 5H music but if you have, if you’ve really listened to it and still hate it, then I respect your opinion as everyone has different tastes in music. Same with the girls. If you’ve taken the time to get to know them and still don’t like them, its your right. If neither are true then you are coming from an ignorant position. “Knowledge is power!”

Why is no one talking about the fact that Normani Kordei from Fifth Harmony has lost 26,000 twitter followers today (Sunday)? I mean wow. I was shocked when she gained 50,000 twitter followers in one day a couple months back and people said she or someone bought her followers. NOW I believe it. At least Little Mix doesn’t have to buy followers. This makes me question if the Fifth Harmony account + their individual members have been buying followers. Well they have no money so maybe their labels or management bought the followers. This totally explains why their fans and supporters think they are getting popular. But in reality they need all the help from tv/magazine/online/twitter promotion and One Direction and Ed Sheeran. And their label/management buying twitter followers to make it seem like they are getting big. I actually can’t see Emblem3 doing this shady twitter buying thing because Drew Chadwick is still under 300,000 followers and everyone else from x factor usa hasn’t really gained that much followers since the show ended. Usually we find out later if twitter followers were bought because they lose like 26,000 followers in a day and it’s obvious. I wonder how popular they really are though if hardly anyone at my school knows them (5H). Well to be fair most don’t know Little Mix either. Everyone’s obsessed with boy bands/groups like 1D, 5SOS, E3, etc.
