‘The X Factor’ USA / UK notes: A Fifth Harmony cover, Sharon Osbourne rumors

LylasOne day after our exclusive “X Factor” interview with Tate Stevens (who gave us some pretty interesting insight behind the scenes of the show), we’re back with some of our all-familiar notes … and we start with a new cover from the girl-group sensation known as Fifth Harmony.

As a way to keep the spotlight on them while working on their debut album, Dinah Jane, Normani, Camila, Ally, and Lauren have released their new cover video. What’s the song choice this time? They have already covered such contemporary artists as Rihanna and Ed Sheeran, and this time around they went with a country-pop artist in Taylor Swift. This version of “Red” really does not have a country vibe to it at all, though, as the ladies focus (of course) on the harmonies while also pouring as much emotion as possible into the song.

Hopefully, we will also have some original Fifth Harmony music to share within the span of the next few months. It would obviously benefit the group and Simon Cowell to have a disc out by the new season in the fall.

Sharon’s return – Now, we turn back to the continuing rumors that Sharon Osbourne could return to the British “X Factor” as a judge for the first time since 2007, and with a contract valued at over two million pounds. This would make her the show’s highest-paid judge reportedly, and it could be enough to get her to cross over.

Here is what a source had to say about the negotiations to the People:

“Sharon will be an X Factor judge and it is only a matter of days before the deal is finalised. She is being paid a hefty sum of £2million as Cowell is desperate to have her on the show. She is also expecting to earn half a million more in book and publishing deals. There is no way she would turn down such a well-paid job.”

Ever since the news first broke of trouble in her relationship with Ozzy, Sharon has been extremely quiet on social media and in interviews. Her family life could be a factor in her decision, as could the fact that she has a full-time job already on “The Talk,” and we just don’t know if she could handle doing two regular shows on two separate continents.
