‘Girls’ season 2, episode 9 preview: Enter Amy Schumer (video)

Even though we like to think that we have cast a pretty wide net when it comes to being aware of every major casting that goes on in the TV industry, sometimes, there are a few that still manage to slip through the cracks. Therefore, we were rather shocked to be watching the clip below from Sunday night’s “Girls” season 2 episode (the last one prior to the finale), only to see none other than comedian Amy Schumer show up.

While Schumer has been a fixture of recent Comedy Central Roasts and is a former “Last Comic Standing” contestant, she is not particularly well-known for her acting gigs (though she has had some small parts in “30 Rock” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” to go along with a voiceover part in “Louie”). On this show, she is playing a friend to Adam’s new girlfriend, one with a penchant for booze and for gossiping about a man that she barely even knows. The character does not seem to pleased with the sort of guy that Adam is, and even goes so far as to say that he looks like an “old timey criminal.” Meanwhile, Adam’s new gal stands up for him by saying that he looks like “Peter Pan.” (Apparently, this is an adequate defense these days.)

The only thing that makes this scene even more than Schumer’s presence is seeing Adam hilarious pretend to care that he is missing some sort of major sporting event by being at this party. We also wonder just when Hannah is going to be crossing paths with her ex, mostly because we know that it does happen at some point this week.
