‘Girls’ season 2, episode 9 preview: Ray is a very sad man

GirlsStart tearing up now: there are only two episodes left on “Girls” before the finale, and then we are tragically without TV’s most interesting comedy for an extremely long stretch of time. (Thankfully, season 3 is at least going to comprise of 12 episodes, but we have to get there first.)

Now that Lena Dunham has finally tipped her hat as to where some of these characters are going, we’re setting up for a pretty interesting finale. Marnie is starting to take her dreams of being a singer seriously, which in turn leads to Shoshanna telling her boyfriend (still blissfully unaware of the fact that she cheated on him) to help Marnie “lay down a track.” Allison Williams has a great deal of vocal talent (Judd Apatow seeing her sing a mash-up of “Nature Boy” set to the “Mad Men” theme song is one of the reasons why she even has this gig), and it’s about time that she’s getting to show it off. It’s mostly just surprising that we never really saw any of this while she was with Charlie.

As for what is going on with Hannah, it appears as though her OCD is starting to be under control again, but she is confronted soon with another problem: the editor for her eBook seemingly hates what she has turned in, and she is also set to run into Adam for the first time since his arrest. Adam actually seems to be diving into dating again, so it will be beyond interesting to see just how seeing his ex will trigger past memories or emotions inside of his demented mind.

The strongest thing that we can say about “Girls” is that through two seasons, it has has managed to shake all preconceived notions of what we thought it would be, and went from a show we didn’t want to like to a show that makes our love for TV complete.
