‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert, Mariah Carey, and Phillip Phillips
One day after we brought you some of the dates for Adam Lambert’s “We Are Glamily” tour, we now have something exciting: a performance from his first show in Seoul, South Korea that is particularly stunning.
You may have heard Adam recently sing a few lines of the Rihanna hit “Stay” in a video that he posted on his Keek, and in the video below, you can check out the full version of the song. This is one of the better songs that Rihanna has released in recent years, so combine that melody with Adam’s voice and you have something to celebrate for days.
Hopefully, we’ll continue to have some more great Adam videos to share over the course of the next week or two; after all, they serve as a nice consolation for the fact that there is no tour happening in North America for the time being.
Another “Home” performance – In come back to the United States for the rest of the aritcle, Phillip Phillips stopped by the first part of NBA All-Star Weekend in Houston to perform a song that has taken much of the world by storm over the past eight months: “Home.”
We are not going to argue against the claim that this song has been played a bit too often for some people, and even booking Phillip for this event in particular was a little surprising. Nonetheless, he still sings with as much heart and tenderness as he always does, and we have to applaud that.
Mariah Carey news – Finally, a quick note for those of you who are excited to hear something new from one of the show’s current judges: Mariah will be releasing a new single on Tuesday, straight off of the soundtrack to the upcoming film “Oz: The Great and Powerful.” Mariah has composed some beautiful movie music before, so here’s to hoping the tradition continues here.

I LOVED ADAM’s rendition of STAY/Underneath in Seoul. Then I came upon his cover in Tokyo & it totally blew me away. The audience respectfully sat & listened to ADAM … no participation singing … and it was just absolutely FABulous!! Check it out on Google …. Chills & tears of JOY!!

It’s sad that ADAM gets no airplay here in the US. There is an online radio program from the UK that plays all of ADAM’s songs … Energymusicradio.co.uk … there’s also a DJ from NZ that has a podcast every week … Liam McEwans ADAM LAMBERT HOUR …. during which only ADAM’s songs are played. WHY can’t someone here in his own country do the same thing? I fail to see what the DJs here in the US are holding back from ADAM’s music for! Truly … truly sad for ADAM’s devoted fans! ADAM is so Talented & his songs are quite inspirational! Come on America … WAKE UP!!

Adam was F A B O U L O U S ! Not only he has a killing voice but WHAT EMOTION! I encourage everybody to see Adam (during the same concert) with Broken English, Underneath. I liked a lot Running, OH! so many good songs that radio does not play.
I miss Adam so much!

Adam Lambert’s cover of STAY, which goes right into his penned UNDERNEATH is stunning. I feel bad that Adam hasn’t had but one hit, Whataya Want From Me, since he came off of Idol. I think one of the struggles for the contestants is finding a great song after singing covers on the show. Songs that are chosen to compete on Idol are some of the world’s most popular and best selling songs already. I think it would be fun, to really showcase the contestant’s artistry, to have a theme week where they sing original music, either their own or chosen from unreleased songs.
And congratulations to Phil on his song HOME. I hear it everywhere. It’s one of the few coronation songs from Idol that was a hit that wasn’t a country song.
What great timing for Mariah to have a new song. This is why it would have been great for Adam to be a judge. Idol is becoming more about the judges than the contestants.
I know Adam “stopped by” to visit the top 40. I’m anxious to see if he gets some face time this week on Idol as it’s killing me that he is overseas touring with no signs of what he’s doing after March 22nd. Your “For the time being” at the end of your section on Adam at least gives me a glimmer of hope.

Adam’s cover just blew me away. His voice is one for the ages, especially in his genres of rock and pop. I think Stay is a great song, but I also think Adam has written and sung ballads that are just as powerful and beautiful. What do you think about that?

Matt: thanks for mention of Adam’s cover of STAY but why not mention how beautiful his own “Underneath” sound which is song on TSP album. It’s frustrating that media gives more attention to a song that Adam covers than his own music. Is this just a US issue cuz internationally this is not done. It was a beautiful cover of a mediocre song. Adam made it beautiful with his voice.
