‘The Vampire Diaries’ review: Shockers for Nina Dobrev, Steven R. McQueen
Did you see all of this coming on “The Vampire Diaries” Thursday night? There are shockers, and then there are shockers that leave you a weeping pile of tears on the floor.
There are so many stunners to get here, so we may as well dive right in head-first. The biggest event of the night was the revival of Silas, and what came immediately following: seeing Jeremy’s neck get snapped by this mummified beast of a man. Is Steven R. McQueen’s time on the show really done? If so, this would be sad for a number of reasons, whether it be his story arc with Kat Graham’s Bonnie, or the fact that Elena has pretty much lost every single person who was in her life during the pilot over the past four seasons. Sadly, we’re not going to find out the answer here for at least another week.
As for some other departures, Tyler Lockwood took off almost out of nowhere this week to avoid the wrath of Klaus … and this was probably the most upsetting moment of the show ever. After all that Klaus had done to him, it just didn’t feel natural for the character to just take off because he was afraid of what would happen to him. Judging by the tearful goodbye to Caroline, we also are wondering if he is even going to be back this season. (Don’t expect him to be back for at least the immediate future, as Michael Trevino has taken a few departures from the show in years past.)
Finally, who saw the return of Nina Dobrev’s other character? Katherine made a return appearance for the first time and quite a long time, and the circumstances were indeed shocking given her vow to stay away from everyone in Mystic Falls while Klaus is around.

I’M UPSET AT VD AND JULIE FOR MAKING THIS EPISODE I THINK IT WAS WRONG KILLING JERMEY AND THE WRONG MOVE I’M A BIG BIG FAN OF VAMPIRE DIARIES HE IS MY FAVORITE PERSON IN MYSTIC FALLS ALONG WITH MAT AND FOR THEM TO JUST UP AND DECIDE HE DIES NOT COOL AT ALL…. I MEAN I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY KATHERINE WANTS THE CURE SHE OF ALL PEOPLE DONT WANT TO BE HUMAN, I THINK IT WAS WRONG HOW THE BROUGHT HER BACK… I’M HOPING JERMEY COMES BACK SO HOW I HOPE SILIS OR BONNIE CAN BRING HIM BACK… AND I’M THINKING THERE HAS TO BE MORE TO THIS “CURE” THEN WE KNOW ESPECIALLY SINCE KATHERINE IS BACK JUST LIKE THE MOON STONE THE “CURE” MUST BE SOMETHING ELSE AND CAN BE USED FOR SOMETHING ELSE…. ALL I KNOW IS JERMEY BETTER COME BACK BECAUSE I DONT BELIVE I’M GONNA WATCH IT ANYMORE…. I’M ALSO UPSET WITH JULIE BECAUSE BONNIE STILL NOT STRONG I MEAN I’M TIRED OF EVERYONE ALWAYS GETTING THERE ASS KICKED WHEN EVIL COMES GOSH…. FOR SOME REASON THOUGH I THINK JERMEY IS DEAD FOR GOOD THIS TIME CUS SOMETHING IS SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN THAT IMPACTS THE COURS OF THE SHOW….BRING HIM THE F BACK WILL TALK.

It was WTH! Two people who haven’t been part of the story suddenly are front and center leading the action. It’s like watching a mystery where you are given a bunch of clues to figure out whodunit and then at the end they say so and so is the culprit because of something that wasn’t in the story until the big moment of the reveal. It sucks.
