‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Tate Stevens, Lyric 145 release new music
On this edition of “The X Factor” USA notes, we’re talking almost all about new music from two of the former contestants from season 2 … including the reigning champion in Tate Stevens.
“Holler If You’re With Me” – Tate’s an old-school country artist, and this is further evidenced here by the fact that he actually continues to spell “Holler” with the “er” still attached to it rather than an “a.” Jokes aside, though, this is a song that you should definitely check out if you’re a Tate fan over on iTunes. There’s no official version of the song available for listening online yet, but we’ll have it for you as soon as there is one.
Basically, this song is probably exactly what you expected from Tate the moment you saw that he won the show, and that he was working with some of the best writers and producers in country music. It feels very much like a mix of Jason Aldean and Garth Brooks, and it’s a pretty catchy track, to boot. We know that country is a very competitive radio format, but this probably has more potential to become a hit than just about any other commercial song released from the American version of the show.
“I Get It” – Now, we turn to rap trio Lyric 145, who now have yet another reminder that they were gone far too soon on the show. These three were extremely creative and energetic, but were only hurt on the show by the fact that they never really had an opportunity thanks to the people responsible for clearing the songs to prove just how talented they are.
This original track is called “I Get It,” and the rhymes in here are crazy. What they really need to do more than anything else is to just keep putting out new music like this. It will prove to some of the best hip-hop producers in the game right now that they’re worth taking a chance on, since they could be marketed pretty well if they can get the right people behind them.

Agree with Karigan, Carly Rose’s voice and control is truly the One and Only and the Best.

TaysIf I had a record label, I would’ve signed two acts from this x factor class. Lyric 145 and Carly Rose. Lyric 145 because there really is nothing like them out there plus they put together the sickest lyrics and beats. Lyric da queen reminds me of Missy Elliott. Carly Rose has a signature sound. Her voice is unique. Plus there is no teen girl sensation out there. The market is full of boys right now with Justin Bieber, Austin Mahone, Cody Simpson, Connor Maynard, etc. Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, and Selena Gomez are in their 20s or will be 20 this yr. So a teen girl is needed in the crowded teen music industry, which seems to be dominated by boys or boy groups.
