The Flash season 3 finale spoilers: Can Barry stop Savitar without violence?

stop Savitar

Can Barry stop Savitar? It’s the big question going into The Flash season 3 finale, and there’s another big question to go with that: Can he do it without any further bloodshed?

Well, the sneak peek below for Tuesday’s episode suggests precisely what some of the strategy moving forward is going to be for Barry, and specifically how it seems that much of it could relate to trying to speak to Savitar on a personal level. Clearly, nothing else is working. Savitar is faster, smarter, and knows everything there is to know about Barry. There is almost nothing else that can be done other than try to appeal to the part of him that was once good.

Will this actually work? Probably not, and it also shouldn’t work just given that the idea of Savitar being defeated via a pep talk is one of the lamest things that could be done to end what’s been an epic past few weeks amplified by a great performance from Grant Gustin. The reality still is that defeating Savitar probably will be done intellectually, given that there is virtually no other way to stop him at this point with him on the verge of achieving godhood. It is probably more tied to the notion of trying to outsmart him in some way. Maybe it involves appealing to the part of him that is good, or maybe it involves trying to find a way to wipe him from existence.

Here is one of the other problems creatively entering the finale: If eradicating Flashpoint is the final goal, then you really run the risk of ticking off people who enjoyed the development of this universe. This is another theory that is out there, and as speculated over at the link here, this just doesn’t feel like a viable solution since there are going to be so many people who grow immediately angry at the prospect of this.

Ultimately, this isn’t the most in-depth sneak peek in the world, but it does do a fairly successful job at setting the stage for what the finale could be in terms of what the characters are thinking. That’s better than you do get in some other places.
