The Flash season 3 finale theory: Could the Flashpoint Universe die?

Flash season 3 finale theory

In the midst of many stories and ideas about The Flashthe following season 3 finale theory is among the most widespread. Is it possible for the entire Flashpoint Universe to crumble? Could the show actually erase some of the events of this entire season and act as though they never happened?

If the objective of the writers in the finale is to do away with Killer Frost and to bring back Caitlin Snow, this may be one of the only ways that it happens. It does seem as though there is a way in the present still to suppress Killer Frost enough for the real Caitlin to come through, but it probably is sporadic at best. There has to be another way to bring her back, and abolishing this timeline could be it. If this were to happen, though, there would be such a vast ripple effect: Julian would seemingly be gone, Kid Flash wouldn’t have his powers anymore, and there would be no more H.R. running around. Granted, Iris would still be alive and out of harm’s way; odds are, Barry would take not being engaged with her to her being dead, which is where she seems to be.

It makes sense for this theory to be out there, but there are plenty of reasons why it’s probably invalid as a means of stopping Savitar and leading into season 4.

1. Abra Kadabra’s prophecy – There is a future for Barry Allen beyond Savitar, and it comes in the form of DeVoe. If Barry were to change everything and somehow correct Flashpoint, there would be no prophecy. To be fair, though, wouldn’t there also be no Savitar if such a move were ordained? This is where the rules of time start to become a tad confusing.

2. The ripple effect would be vast – You would have to also wonder, if this were the case, if Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow would find many of their own stories invalidated.

3. It’s too big of a middle finger to the past year – Going through all of this only to be told that none of it really mattered would be a huge insult, and is probably too much of a risk to the show’s casual base.

In the end, this is the timeline we should be stuck with, only The Flash should figure out how to destroy Savitar while offering some hope to Caitlin in the process. This character moving forward is probably the one the writers may have the biggest problem with, just because you want to keep elements of two very different people within a singular performance year in and year out. That cannot be easy.
