‘Bones’ season 12: Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz on potentially returning down the road
We’ve already heard that some of the people behind the scenes with “Bones” would be very much interested in bringing the show back for more new episodes down the road. With that in mind, what about the cast? Even though this is the final season and it makes some sense to view the series through the lens of saying goodbye, the reality here is still that this is something that is hard for any of us to do in 2017. We’ve got that insatiable desire for more, and never want to contemplate the idea of things ending.
The one thing that we do have now are some comments from David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel on potentially returning down the line; while they don’t rule it out completely, it doesn’t look like either one of them will be ready to jump back into Booth and Brennan in a few months’ time. Here is what the two actors said during their final show TCA panel (per Entertainment Weekly).
Boreanaz – “It’s very hard for me to answer that question, honestly. I don’t know what’s going to happen in six hours. I mean, you’re asking a hypothetical question, but everything is possible in life. But I tend to like to go forward. I don’t like to go backwards… In general, I don’t like reunions and I don’t like to go back.”
Deschanel – ““I would say I would like some time before I consider that. We’ve put in 12 years into the show and that’s not nothing. It’ll be really weird to say goodbye, very emotional to say goodbye, until next week like, ‘Okay, coming back!’ Such an emotional roller coaster. That’s not to say I wouldn’t consider it in a certain amount of time, but I think we need to have some time pass before I consider it.”
We feel like we’ve already made our own stance on this subject rather clear: Give everyone a couple of years to stretch their wings and try new things, and then consider something similar to the new “X-Files” episodes or “Sherlock.” You can come back once every couple of years with a batch of episodes, and by the time you bring it back, there may be renewed interest and nostalgia.
