‘Doctor Who’ season 10: Peter Capaldi describes reason for insecurity

Doctor Who -While Peter Capaldi may be very much secure about the fact that he can effectively play the title character on “Doctor Who,” at the same exact time he does hold some insecurity regarding some other things. Specifically, we’re talking here about his concerns that him as a person isn’t altogether exciting enough to meet the expectations that many fans have. This is the sort of thing that celebrities do come up against sometimes; there’s that old saying that “you don’t want to meet your heroes” because they won’t turn out how you want them to; for the record, we actually think Capaldi’s humility and respect are reasons why he will never end up letting anyone down. The celebrities who do disappoint are often the ones who are either supremely arrogant or end up disrespecting some of their fans in some way.

Anyhow, here is what Capaldi had to say on this particular subject related to his fans as a part of a new interview with The Sun:

“Some people do get very excited when they meet you and I feel vaguely confused by that because I don’t think I’m very exciting – I get into a panic because I think I mustn’t disappoint them … Doctor Who is exciting, but I’m not. I don’t know what to do. I can’t be myself because that will disappoint them.

“Often people ask for hugs and I can feel them shaking. Sometimes people can’t speak. I just hope that I give them a good time by talking to them.”

Ultimately, the best thing that you can do is tell someone who meets a guy like Capaldi to be excited, grateful, and okay to strike up some sort of conversation with him. Yet, that’s easier said than done. Sometimes you wait for many years for a chance to meet someone like him, and when that moment comes, you often don’t know exactly what to say.

For those of you looking to meet Peter, he is relatively active on the convention circuit; check some of your local ones to see if he’ll be turning up.

Meanwhile, the BBC just released a new teaser for the upcoming 2016 Christmas Special — we recommend heading over to this link if you want to check that out now. (Photo: BBC.)
