‘UnREAL’ has great response to Chris Harrison diss
Earlier this week, “The Bachelor” host Chris Harrison chose to make one thing abundantly clear when it comes to the Lifetime series “UnREAL“: He is not much of a fan. He doesn’t like that the show is more or less piggybacking off of the success of the ABC franchise, and he also refers to it as “terrible” while claiming that nobody is watching. (Not true on either count: It’s actually great, and already renewed for a second season.
After all of that, we now must give at least a little bit of kudos to show executive producer Marti Noxon for what we feel like is a wonderful response to what the host said. The following comes via TVLine:
“Honestly, I was thrilled. I was so excited because I was like, ‘Oh, my God, they noticed us!’ His dislike of the show was not surprising to me, so it didn’t hurt my feelings … I’m like a nerd. The captain of the football team is talking about me, even if he’s saying, ‘Hey, nerd!’”
Ultimately, it is obvious why producers for “The Bachelor” or someone like Harrison would hate “UnREAL,” since the entire premise of the show is exposing in some way the way in which production works behind the scenes. We do think that the Lifetime show does exaggerate a good bit for the sake of making things ever crazier, but we know that many elements in here are a genuine part of the reality TV process, including doing what you can to force contestants into situations that would otherwise be uncomfortable for them.
