‘Chicago Fire’ season 3 finale review: A Dawson shocker and a Casey mystery
If we had a reminder of any one thing during tonight’s “Chicago Fire” finale, it is that these people are family. They have gone through almost everything together, and that includes a variety of near-death experiences.
Ultimately, we had yet another situation like this that took place in tonight’s finale, but we have to say that through it all, we thought until around the final four or five minutes that we were actually going to get a happy ending with everyone at Molly’s relaxing after a daring rescue, and a situation where the entire firehouse stood together after an act of insubordination for a good cause. We don’t know why we ever thought that; we should know this show better by now!
The biggest stunner of all may be that Dawson has realized that she is pregnant, which came for her almost suddenly while at the party with the rest of the group. Then, she went to find Matt, only to find what has to be the next shocker: A dead body in his place, and Casey completely missing. Did you really think that the writers were going to give you a clean ending? Far from it. Casey may have done a good job at first with the whole Nesbitt storyline, but these are smart people that he’s dealing with, and he is not going to be in a good place presumably when season 4 picks back up.
On the positive side, at least we did not definitively lose anyone, Severide stood up for himself after a few weeks of conflict in the Rice story, and Brett and Roman are apparently the next big couple on the show. That’s a lot for the span of an hour. Grade: B+.
