‘Chicago Fire’ season 4: Taylor Kinney, Jesse Spencer, and what lies ahead

Chicago Fire -Tonight is a dark day for fans of “Chicago Fire,” at least in the form of the show coming to a close for the next several months. Tonight’s episode was certainly eventful in between Casey’s undercover work and Severide’s attempts to finally reconcile his relationship with Scott Rice, but at the end of the day, it’s yet again just a piece in the puzzle, the tip of the iceberg, or any other silly expression that you want to use to describe what could be coming up.

Let’s start this article off with what is first and foremost pretty obvious: That the show is coming back in the fall! It was renewed ultimately a little while ago. The biggest surprise to many may just be that it will not premiere until later in the fall (think November), as NBC experiments with the Neil Patrick Harris variety show that they first promoted earlier in the year. We don’t imagine that the episode order will change, though; they still want to give you as many episodes as possible, and may just do it this time in a shorter window.

As for where season 4 is going to be picking up, that seems fairly obvious now: Trying to figure out what in the world happened to Casey. Is he okay? We’re optimistic that Jesse Spencer is not leaving the show, so we’ll hope so for the time being. Also, Dawson’s pregnancy clearly changes things for her, and we mean that both personally and professionally.

As for the new couple in Brett and Roman, we’re really just at the beginning of whatever that will be.
