‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, episode 23 preview: The latest struggle for Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith

The future -Unfortunately, this is going to feel familiar. Thursday night’s new episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” is going to feature the first medical emergency for Meredith Grey since the death of Derek, and it will involve a car accident. This is every bit as terrible as you would imagine, but we don’t think that this is entirely Shonda Rhimes tormenting us as it is easy to proclaim sometimes. Meredith’s a doctor, and therefore handling emergencies is standard operating procedure. There just so happens to be a ton of car accidents in this world, so her being in this position is not a surprise.

The most notable thing about the sneak peek video below is just how well that she seems to handle the crisis. She doesn’t seem to let many of her emotions get the best of her, and remains as focused as can be on making sure that she gets there prepared to do the job. Will it stay that way? That remains to be seen.

While Meredith will of course be a significant focus of this story (it is hard to imagine anything else at this point), there are also going to be a few other valuable components to this episode, as well. Many of the other stories, including that of April / Jackson and Ben / Bailey, will have some more time in the spotlight.

Also, you cannot forget about Amelia here at the same time. She is in the process of going through her own journey after Derek’s death, and with her history of addiction and other struggles you have a definite reason to be worried for her safety.
