NBC’s ‘The Voice’ results preview: Sawyer Fredericks, Meghan Linsey, Joshua Davis looking strong

Given that only one contestant is going to be sent home on “The Voice” this week, we’ve got a little more flexibility this week when it comes to the results. We have a good feeling at least on three of the artists who will be declared safe, and we’re almost willing to place a fourth one in there for good measure.

Let’s start with the good news for many fans: Despite some of our fears about that “Take Me to the River” performance, Sawyer Fredericks is still riding high. Yet again, he has a song in the top five on iTunes with “Shine On” (it’s at #3 at the time of this article), and “Take Me to the River” is hovering right around the top 10. To us, there is no question that he’s got the competition in the bag right now unless someone runs by and actually yanks the bag away. His lead is so enormous. Meghan Linsey is also in the top 10 with her “Amazing Grace,” but that is just one song as opposed to two.

The only other artist in the top 20 this week is Joshua Davis with “In My Life.” Why the lower sales this frame? We feel like it is mostly due to the artists each doing two songs, so many of the sales figures are a little more spread out than they would otherwise be. Joshua being safe is not confirmed, but we feel good about both him and Koryn Hawthorne at the moment.

The two we’re the most worried about are India Carney and Kimberly Nichole; somehow, the latter has completely fallen off the sales cliff this week. What happened? There were some online complaining about her “Dirty Diana” performance, but vocally we thought it was killer. Ultimately, we just think that she picked two songs that are just not that commercially interesting, and people have to want to buy the songs you perform.
