‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11, episode 22: Is there hope for Sandra Oh appearance?

What's next? -Tonight’s “Grey’s Anatomy” episode is going to run for two solid hours, and it is one that could have a good deal of exposition to go along with what should be the main story: Remembering Dr. Derek Shepherd. His funeral service is going to be a huge part of the storyline, and after that, we’ll get a chance to really start to see some of how these people move forward.

The reason for all of the aforementioned exposition, though, really comes back to this: There are many people who really should be at Derek’s funeral, but we are not sure any of them will be. Cristina Yang is the biggest example of that, given that she was Meredith’s “person” for so long, and there really has not been a whole lot of time even spent mentioning her this year. Could the show not get Sandra Oh back for an episode? TVLine makes a good point in saying that the show most likely would have promoted her appearance if she was in tonight’s episode, but we could see a universe where they didn’t, mostly for two separate reasons:

1. Tonight’s episode is sure to get huge ratings regardless.

2. They don’t want to take away from Derek’s memorial by hyping up the appearance of someone else.

Ultimately, we’ll be surprised if we see Oh on the show again, but it is certainly far more possible than Katherine Heigl. Isaiah Washington and Kim Raver are also actors whose characters at least spent time at the hospital, but we’d be surprised if either one of them turned up, either.
