‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11 spoilers: Caterina Scorsone on Amelia – Owen dynamic
You are going to see Amelia and Owen grow closer as you get to the end of “Grey’s Anatomy” this season, and one of the simple reasons why is just because these are two people who, despite their differences, also have an inherent understanding of each other. They have both experienced tremendous hardship and heartbreak, and it is with that in mind that they are almost kindred spirits in a way.
It is also with this in mind that these two characters are willing to be a little bit more flexible when it comes to some difficult conversations, and this includes things such as Owen’s intense past with Cristina Yang. Does this come up soon? Based on what Caterina Scorsone tells Entertainment Weekly, it definitely seems like it; however, what they have each been through makes it easier for them to take the problem on:
“They have a little bit of a conversation about it … I don’t think Amelia understands the ins and outs of that whole relationship or how it affected Owen. One of the nice things about the connection between Amelia and Owen is that so much of it is an unspoken connection. They know that there are big areas of their lives that are really hard to talk about, so they give each other that space. They’ve created a vessel and an opportunity for the other person to reveal themselves, but they don’t push. Both of them need that because they’ve been pushed around a lot in their lives with all their traumas.”
It would be foolish to think that these two are necessarily on the complete other side of their demons. However, at the same time it would be completely foolish to think that they were incapable of moving forward. These are two people who have to make a decision in regards to how they want to live, and then they need to press forward from it.
