‘America’s Got Talent’ review: How Sons of Serendip, Mike Super, Emily West stack up

America's Got Talent -Did we have the best “America’s Got Talent” show of the season tonight? We’re still not sure that we can answer that in full, but we definitely at least feel good about some of the hopefuls advancing to the next round.

As always when it comes to these reviews, we’re going to go through here and rank all of the acts in order from our favorite to least-favorite on the night. We’ll add more acts as we get closer to the end of the night.

Bad Boys of Ballet – Well, they really must have wanted this “bad boys” label tonight! Not only were the boys (plus one woman) not particularly good, but they also showed some serious sass after the performance. That’s not going to help them.

Mara Justice – We hate to say we saw this coming, but we did. Mara’s not a great singer, and is really just instead a nice enough young lady with some talent. At this point, though, you really have to be phenomenal … and she missed some notes in here.

Paul Ieti – His biggest attribute is that he seems to be a very nice guy. Unfortunately, that is really his only attribute since his voice is only decent. With him being so early in the show this time, it is possible that he will be buried by the other singers on the night.

Dan Naturman – This set felt really short, shorter than usual, even. It also was just not particularly hilarious. There were some good jokes, but not any truly magnificent ones to celebrate.

Aerial Animation – The animation behind her tonight was once again very cute, but when it comes to pure aerial ability and stunts, we have to admit that we’ve seen so much more on the show over the years.

Andrey Moraru – Another very good performance from Andrew … even though it is somewhat more of the same! The problem he runs into is that he would probably be better in a show with some other incredible circus performers.

Flight Crew Jump Rope – A very good act for what they do, but there’s only so much variation on it. This, coupled with them going first, means almost instant death despite them being extremely talented. A shame.

David and Leeman – We really like the combination of comedy, magic, and performance that these guys throw in here. The problem tonight was that while there was great entertainment throughout, there wasn’t quite a prestige. It was just a game of odds that they somehow used magic to manipulate.

Miguel Dakota – One of the best performances a solo male singer has given on this show, mostly because he actually made “Seven Nation Army” into something different than what Jack White does. He has a very distinctive voice, performers well, and hit almost all of his notes. Even though singers have a built-in advantage, he gets another one for being legitimately awesome. We don’t say that often here.

Mike Super – An excellent performance by Mike, and proof that the guy, gimmicks aside, is one of the best magicians of the entire season. We don’t think he really needs to bring Desmond back at all if he keeps all of this up.

Sons of Serendip – We really feel like these guys have a great shot of winning this whole competition. Like Miguel, they are original, but they take it a step further with the muscaility of it all. We haven’t really seen anything quite like this before on the show.

Emily West – The second time that we have seen Emily, and completely been blown away by everything that she has done. This is one of our favorite Queen songs ever, and she did it complete justice. We really wish that she actually got to sing the compete version rather than just the 90 seconds. Episode Grade: A-.
