‘America’s Got Talent’ rankings: Miguel Dakota, Mike Super, Emily West, more face off

America's Got Talent -The first “America’s Got Talent” semifinal show airs Tuesday night, and what we have is a pretty great lineup of contenders. Of the group below, we legitimately think that nine of them have at least some chance of going through to the next round. Of those nine, we’d say that about seven or those are acts we would consider voting for. That’s not bad for this stage.

So how do we rank such a diverse field? We can’t really compare a dance act directly against a singer, so what we do instead is compare overall entertainment factor to past voting results, and also the history of similar acts on past seasons of the show. We’ve at least been decent in predicting the advancing acts, so we will see if that streak continues now!

12. Bad Boys of Ballet – Did they really do anything that special on this past performance show? We don’t think so, and we don’t know why they were chosen as a wild-card act.

11. Andrey Moraru – There are a couple of acts performing Tuesday that are very good, but probably have a low ceiling based on voting history and what they have already shown. Andrey’s fits into that.

10. Flight Crew Jump Rope – This is a similar case to Andrey and the Bad Boys of Ballet. The energy will probably be here, but it most likely will not be enough even if it is a perfect performance.

9. Mara Justine – We didn’t agree with the judges putting Mara through, but we give her a slight chance since she is a young singer, and these stories can tend to get America calling in with votes.

8. David and Leeman – They previous outing was somewhat hit-or-miss, but we feel like there is still a high ceiling there. Just don’t involve the judges in your trick next time, since they don’t listen very well.

7. Paul Ieti – He’s got a big story and a good voice, but not a great one. Where he is placed in the show will play a big part in how well he fares this time, especially with so many other solo singers here.

6. Mike Super – Probably was screwed by the judges last time, and if you take away the Desmond gimmick, you will soon realize that he has actually done the most creative tricks we have ever seen on the show.

5. Dan Naturman – A very funny comedian, but he needs to find a way to get it to another level this time if he wants to advance. The one thing helping him is that he’s the only comic, while the magic acts and singers may cancel each other out.

4. Emily West – A female singer (or really a solo female act in general) has not won the show since season 1, and while there are many hurdles ahead for Emily, she does have a talent that could get her there if she stays consistent.

3. Aerial Animation – One of the coolest acts of the entire season, and a personal favorite. There is some risk there, especially with the way that her animation is done. She needs to find a way to keep it fresh.

2. Sons of Serendip – They play music that is universally appreciated, and seem to be very nice, humble guys. America will not be getting rid of them just yet.

1. Miguel Dakota – The same goes for Miguel, who is the safe bet right now to win the whole competition. He’s just a really good singer, and that matters more than his narrative or anything else.

Who is your favorite? Let us know right now in the comments, and head over here to see who the remaining wild-card acts (or act, in this case) are for the rest of the season. Also, sign up today for further TV updates on everything we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter!
