‘Supernatural’ season 9, episode 19 video: Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and a familiar face

Tuesday night’s “Supernatural” episode is quite possibly the biggest tongue-twistier in the history of the show … at least when it comes to titles. You don’t exactly see a whole lot of hours titled “Alex Annie Alexis Ann” across the TV landscape for a reason. (Also, this title sounds like a series of words a drunk guy would say trying to remember the name of a girl he met the night before.)

The sneak peek below is not necessarily the most-exciting one that we’ve ever had, and nor is it the funniest. Basically, it’s just a briefing from Jody Mills, who is back on the scene again following an earlier appearance this season. Sam and Dean are going to be tracking down a vampire nest, which in turn may give Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles an opportunity to pretend to kill things.

The biggest thing that we enjoy about vampire stories on “Supernatural”? Mostly that they aren’t so frequently-sexualized in the same way that they are on almost every other form of entertainment at this point. Seriously, we never have to see another sparkly vampire or one with perfect abs. We figure that too many vampires would be too concerned with sucking blood to remember to go to the gym.

Even though this episode may be a departure in ways from “Meta Fiction” and the angel storyline with Castiel, there are still opportunities for it to be fun. “The Purge” is probably our favorite example of a standalone hour this season.
