Benedict Cumberbatch reacts to some of the latest comments when it comes to Martin Freeman and making Sherlock.

There have been questions aplenty in the past about whether or not there will be a Sherlock season 5 and, by and large, the easy answer to that question is that there will be. That’s just what tends to make the most sense given the show’s rampant success in both the ratings and pop-culture relevance.

Will there be a Sherlock season 5 in the future? We continue to have a great deal of hope that it will happen; however, we also realize that there is a little more anxiety among the fandom out there with some of the recent comments made by Martin Freeman in mind. 

While a Sherlock season 5 may still happen at some point in the future, it’s not on Martin Freeman’s priority list.

When you think just in terms of sheer box-office success, there are few other actors out there who have experienced quite what Martin Freeman has.

There is no guarantee that a Sherlock season 5 is ever going to happen, but even if it does, know this: You’re not getting it until at least 2020, and maybe even later than that.

A Sherlock season 5 renewal is still something that we and so many others are hoping to see in the future. Unfortunately, there are not exactly any signs that it is happening soon.

For everyone out there wondering, Steven Moffat remains as committed as ever to there being a Sherlock season 5.
