‘NCIS’ season 11, episode 2 review: Cote de Pablo’s goodbye, and that Tony – Ziva kiss
Tonight’s “NCIS” season 11 episode was entitled “Past, Present, Future,” and there was ultimately no better way to try and put an hour of television like this into words. This was a story of a character in Ziva David who has been an integral part of the show for eight years now: Her story growing her, her journey to joining the NCIS team, and then where she was in the present. Ironically, she took this moment to be back in the same place where she was born.
It took about half an hour for Cote de Pablo to actually surface on the show (save for an early dream sequence), and at this point things started to take their emotional turn. Ziva, while being at first angry over being discovered, eventually started to let down some of the walls. The truth started to come out, and it left the two at the site in which you see in the picture above.
Now, we turn to the part that you have been waiting for: The kiss. Did it live up to years of hype? We will let you decide that, but it did at least make for a lovely moment. If you love the couple, your heart was probably in a light-to-heavy sob as you later saw the two characters say goodbye. Ziva claimed that if she did not let go of everything in her life nothing with her would ever change. Tony at least encouraged her to call Gibbs, and share part of her goodbye with someone else. As for if she did, it is still hard to know. The hardest part for us in watching this farewell scene at the plane after the kiss, when you could see Ziva noticeably tear up (and possibly Cote tearing up with her), knowing that her time on the show was ending … at least for now. Never give up hope for the future, though it will likely be a while.
While the entire Ziva story was happening, there was also a story with Gibbs playing out back in Washington DC that was incredibly hard to concentrate on. No offense to Mark Harmon or any of the other actors, but we almost wish that they made this entire episode about Ziva’s exit, since it felt like the series was really trying to do a little too much, even if it did bring us back to a very important sniping.
Overall, what did you think about this “NCIS” episode, and do you think that the writers did the farewell to Ziva justice? Sound off in the comment box below! Click here if you want to see a preview for “Under the Radar,” airing next week on CBS.

I think the show did a poor job, and really let the viewers down. The fire that has always been there with TIVA was lacking. I almost feel like they wrote this one in an effort to change our feelings about Tony and Ziva and make us feel like maybe the spark was never there in order to force us to “get over it”. I think 8 years of a very complex relationship deserved more emotion…more said than what it was given. I hold out hope for a Ziva return a some point but the brevity of her appearance in the last episode makes me feel that either Cote or CBS is over it. I know it is just a show but we all get engrossed in the characters etc and the Tiva issue as well as Ziva’s relationship with the rest of the team should have been given more than the itty bit of focus it received. Hubby and i decided to exit NCIS with Ziva. The writers will try to create the same Tony vibe with the new girl and I don’t want to see it. Tony without his banter with Ziva isn’t Tony. It worked after Kate left because she had only been on the show for 2 years but after 8 years with Ziva I don’t think you can just dump a new girl in the chair and have the same old Tony trying to be flirty and cute. No thanks!

I expected a little more time devoted to Ziva’s departure. Perhaps in episode one they could have included more of ziva on the run with some of the very best flashbacks through the years with the team. The second episode , I think , should have been more of a tribute to her character and her time with Tony in their final moments together. It wasn’t satisfying enough for me. It was all alittle too neat, short and bittersweet. There was too much going on with the other storyline and it didn’t allow the other characters to participate in the farewell of Ziva. You didn’t even see Ducky or Jimmy in this episode. I understand it was a big surprise to the show and gave them little time to figure out the storyline but I was disappointed in the first 2 episodes of season 11. I could have come up with a more entertaining and emotionally satisfying farewell for the fans than Fornell getting shot in the butt. Oh well. Guess we’ll see how this all plays out. I’ll stick it out b/c I love the show and all the actors and characters, but it won’t be the same without Cote. Season 10 was a little slow for me and not that many interesting episodes… they better get it together for season 11 if they want the fans to stick around.

I miss the NCIS that finished one story in one episode and had lots of light-hearted moments. Lately the show has not been any ‘fun’ and I don’t like the story lines that drag out over many episodes.

The necklace Tony found in his pocket is so important
They will have a future. Lots of doors left open for them
Once they clear the hurts. Tony and Ziva deserved the whole episode.. so much love and no moment of them lost in each other. Gary Glasburg did s lousy job. NCiS needs Cote back tomorrow with Michael in their own story line. It supercedes the constant terror threat. We are character driven. Fans who are writers have better plots for Tiva and NCIS. Gibbs as the blocked man is wearing thin

This episode was supposed to be a farewell to Ziva. Instead all we saw of her was maybe half of the last 30 minutes (minus commercials of course). The constant interruptions back to Gibbs & Co. were totally unnecessary. I was very disappointed in the ending they wrote and will no longer be an NICS viewer. Just can’t trust their writers! Good Luck to “Ziva”!

Show is over rly. I have no interest in watching it now. I dont care about the current plot, or Ziva’s potential replacement. They should have ended the show with Tony and Ziva moving on together, and whatever with the rest of the characters.
