ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Is Tony Goldwyn’s Fitz still running for re-election?

What's next? -When you last saw the character of Fitz on “Scandal” season 2, he and Olivia made the decision that they were not going to allow their relationship or threats from Mellie derail his political career; therefore, they decided it best to put it on the back-burner in some ways for the preservation of everything he has worked for.

However, the public’s knowledge of this affair now could change everything, and it does make the following question worthy: Is Fitz going to still consider reelection now that everyone knows his secret? In short, yes. It doesn’t really look like it is going to be slowing him down at all.

According to a report from E! News, Fitz’s attempts to get back in office for another term will be an enormous story in the new season, with there being so many rival candidates who are of course going to jump all over his personal life in an effort to get ahead. This election will basically beg a question that has long been discussed in the political world: What is more important, electing someone based on their policies or their morals? It’s possible that they can have both, but that is not always a given when it comes to this world.

So even with all of this happening, you have to remember that this is “Scandal.” It’s going to be hard for Olivia and Fitz to spend that much time away from each other.

What sort of ramifications do you think Fitz’s affair could have long-term when it comes to his career? As always, we want to hear some of your thoughts below!
