‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7 spoilers: Jim Parsons on Sheldon’s separation anxiety

Trouble -You knew that without Leonard around, Dr. Sheldon Cooper on “The Big Bang Theory” was going to have trouble. But how much so? Just imagine the idea of this famed chemist turning into a complete emotional mess, and you are not too far off from what you should expect from him when the series returns to the air on Thursday, September 26 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Typically when this character is apart from Leonard, it’s only a temporary thing; however, there is no immediate reconciliation that is going to come this time.

Speaking in a new interview with TV Guide, Jim Parsons simply describes what Sheldon is going to be going through in the first episode, and how this in turn could lead to him relying more on Penny than ever before:

“You find out just how badly Sheldon misses him, but he doesn’t want to admit it to anyone. It’s causing him a lack of sleep and bad dreams.”

The good news here for Sheldon is that ultimately, he’s really not going to be away from Leonard for that long at all. Even though the two start off separated in the premiere courtesy of Johnny Galecki’s character being aboard a boat, the reality here is that by the time the second episode of season 6 rolls around, Leonard will be back in the familiar apartment, spending time again with his roommates and his friends. The only question that remains is whether or not the months at sea have changed him in any way.
