‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7 spoilers: Leonard goes overboard

“The Big Bang Theory’s” season 7 premiere can be described, at least what we know about it so far, as “different”.  For the first time really, we are going to see how Sheldon Cooper reacts after being away from Leonard for a substantial period of time. Have they had their rifts before, which have caused them to temporarily switched up their living arrangements? The answer there is “yes,” and the key word is also “temporarily.” Eventually, there was always something that eventually brought the two back together sooner rather than later.

This is not going to happen come September 26 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. Leonard will just be away … and probably acting the fool. You’ve likely heard about some of his drunken antics already, but TV Guide reports that at one point, things become so bad that Leonard falls overboard off the ship while trying to reenact a scene from a movie that we’re surprised that he even sat down and watched in the first place. (Maybe Penny made him.)

Sheldon, meanwhile, is going to be forced instead to rely on Penny while his actual roommate is away … and it is very easy to imagine that the end results of this are going to be hysterically funny. As we have seen time and time again over the years, Sheldon does not react well to change, and Penny does not react well to having to be a mother figure to a man that is older than she is. Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco are great in these scenes together, so can we say that anticipation is high? Definitely.

Ultimately, this crazy dynamic won’t stay this way forever. Leonard will be back in California on dry land by the second episode, and that is when he will have to both explain himself and sort this entire mess out.
