ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6: Want to read a new novel ‘written’ by Nathan Fillion’s Castle?

For anyone who loves “Castle,” why not also enjoy the collected works of Nathan Fillion’s character? While it is impossible to have an actual Richard Castle novel (given that the man is a fictional character, tragically), you can at least pick up one of many Castle-inspired and officially-sanctioned Nikki Heat novels that are currently on the market.

Now, we have caught wind of what the latest one is going to be. Just six days before the ABC show returns on September 23 (which is September 17, since we would never force you to try to do math on this page), the network is going to put out the hardcover version of “Frozen Heat,” the latest in a series that has sold more than two million copies around the globe. The official synopsis for the book is below, and it includes just about all of the thinly-veiled metaphors and hidden names that you would expect when talking about a show like this:

“For the search, Nikki once again teams up with her ruggedly-handsome romantic partner, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Jameson Rook. Their quest for the truth about Nikki’s mother’s murder takes a surprising turn when the duo unearth an alarming terror plot — which is anything but ancient history. It is lethal. It is now. And it has already entered its countdown phase.

“Meanwhile, further complicating Nikki’s mission to bring the rogue spy to justice and thwart the looming terror event, a serial killer begins menacing the Twentieth Precinct, and Nikki’s homicide squad is under pressure to stop him. This diabolical murderer, who is known for his chilling stealth, not only singles out Nikki as the exclusive recipient of his taunting messages, but he boldly names her as his next victim.”

Our ultimate feeling here? If you love “Castle” or some of the show’s past works, we imagine that you are also going to love this story here. If Rick and Kate are not your cup of tea, then reading a whole story featuring fictionalized versions of fictional characters probably is not going to do much to convince you either.

There are plenty of reasons to look forward both the book and the show. Who knows? Based on what is expected to happen before the end of the series (at least so long as Beckett says yes), we could also have a wedding-themed book happen at some point.
