NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 5: Adam Levine on difficulties of launching star
For Adam, one of the reasons for that is simply that there has to be a perfect combination of things that happen. For more on that, just take a look at what he specifically said at NBC’s Television Critics Association event today:
“It would be really nice if we were to launch a new star … [But] a lot of things have to happen in order for that to take place. The goal of the show is to do what we can do with these amazing singers while they’re on the show to get somebody into the front to win the show. We all know that the lightning in a bottle that you have to capture in order to be successful in the business is extremely difficult.”
One of the show’s biggest assets when it is airing is that it is able to find some great talent via people who have previously had major-label deals, or others who are under management and are not necessarily “undiscovered” talent. (Just look at three of the past four winners.) However, many of these people failed to work commercially before the show for a reason, and without a tour or a promotional push like “American Idol” gives its winners, it is hard for them to really get the success early on that they need to succeed long-term.
As we said earlier, Cassadee can celebrate this week having a top-40 country hit in “Wasting All These Tears.” If you do want to read some more news on that, just be sure to head on over to the link here.
