NBC’s ‘The Voice’: See Cassadee Pope’s Grand Ole Opry performance

Cassadee PopeThere is still a certain air of mystique that surrounds the Grand Ole Opry. The venue is one of the most famous in the world, in particular for country artists that are looking to really showcase their talent in front of fans and industry peers. It is also still somewhat sacred when it comes to actually keeping outside recordings from happening. It’s old-school in that you do not get any video footage for at least a short amount of time following a performance, but clips are eventually put out by the Opry itself for viewers to watch in high quality.

Thanks to that, we have the official video below of Cassadee Pope performing “Wasting All These Tears” at her Opry debut this year. The former winner of “The Voice” has been more successful than any other champ to this point when it comes to original single sales, and she also has at least achieved the rare feat of landing a top-40 spot on the Country radio chart.

For evidence of just how hard this is for a female artist to do, there are seven songs from female solo artists in the top 40 of this chart right now; meanwhile, there are 26 male artists. (The rest of the makeup comes from duos and groups.) Maybe this will be a sort of fist-pump to herself and proof that some of the naysayers out there have yet to have too great of an impact.

With all of this being said, it is still interesting to see how the rest of Cassadee’s country career shakes down, given that she is now facing off against another winner from “The Voice” in Danielle Bradbery (who has the same mentor in Blake Shelton) on the same chart.

Speaking of Danielle, you can hear her performance from “The Today Show” this month over at the link here.
