Comic-Con 2013: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ season 2 panel on time jump, characters

Beauty and the Beast

One of the first Comic-Con panels that we had an opportunity to get some scoop from Thursday was the one related to “Beauty and the Beast,” and while we found out previously that Sendhil Ramamurthy was going to be back for more action on the show moving forward, this event helped to do a great job shedding more light on a few other valuable bits of story information.

In addition to there being a gag reel and some reflection on season 1, we also learned that there will be a time jump of around three months between the action of last season and the start of this new one, which gives people time to heal and for some revelations to sink in. (From a filming perspective, it’s also easier than pretending that people don’t age in real life.)

When it comes solely to the subject of Cat’s father, expect some more teasers and storytelling early on when the show comes back, as we are going to see a certain amount of emphasis placed on some of these characters. Like with many other shows out there, the first season here was used in some ways to largely establish who some of these people are. Now that this has been done, there can be some more effort put into just what makes them tick. Vincent’s going to have a great exploration of what he is capable of, and we also will have more backstory into Muirfield and their goals.

Basically, it sounds like the path for season 2 is already starting out strong, though we must admit that this is still very early in the filming process. Some more details will be announced in the weeks ahead.
