Fire Country season 5 spoilers: Who is CJ?

For those who are currently unaware for whatever reason, filming for Fire Country season 5 has officially kicked off. What more can we say about it now? Consider this article a source for one new character joining the CBS staple … even if some details remain a mystery.

At present, here is some of what we can say — according to a report from TVLine, Olivia Thirlby is going to be a series regular on the upcoming chapter of the show. She is set at present to play Cecilia Jade “CJ” Ryan, described as “a quick-witted, fiercely independent, blue-collar, decorated urban firefighter who bolted her station house and city for mysterious reasons.” This means that there is a chance to explore something big regarding her backstory over time, though we doubt that the show is going to rush any of that along. After all, why would they, all things considered? They have the ability to be somewhat patient, even with a somewhat-shorter season airing thirteen episodes.

We do imagine that one of the appealing things about this particular character is going to just be the opportunity to tell somewhat of a fish out of water story — or, use her to introduce Edgewater to viewers who are a little new to the show. Because Fire Country did not necessarily have some huge cliffhanger at the end of last season, there can be a little bit more of a reset than what we have seen as of late. That is something that we tend to believe the writers are going to utilize in order to be creative.

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see if there are any other new faces who come on board — or familiar ones who return.
