‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 7: Why you should attend this year’s Comic-Con

Big Bang TheoryThe Big Bang Theory” will be back once again at Comic-Con this year, but as you may have heard already, it’s going to be different. None of the show’s cast members are currently expected to attend, and instead the panel (which is going to be held on Friday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time) will feature the show’s writers and executive producers.

So why the change? According to TVLine, much of it had to do with the likes of Jim Parsons and others already having acting commitments that take them through the summer. When you have a show that is so successful and stars who want to also do other things, you have to make concessions from time to time. When you consider that Parsons and Johnny Galecki in particular are hardly publicity-seeking guys (given that neither has social media or gives many interviews), we wonder whether or not this environment can be a little overwhelming.

With all of this being said, we’re actually totally stoked for this panel given that the writers are the engines of the show, and they are going to have some pretty great stories to tell about the creative process of pitching ideas on such a geeky show. These are the people who share the traits of Sheldon Cooper and the rest of the characters, and thus may be better equipped to answer all of these questions. As you become more and more engrossed in the world of television, you quickly learn that some of the best heroes to have are really some of the people who push the show behind the scenes, and a number of them are also pretty funny. Executive producers Steven Molaro and Bill Prady in particular have some pretty interesting stories to tell about the business, based on what we’ve heard in interviews and on podcasts over the years.

Now, we just hope that there are questions asked at the panel beyond just why the cast members aren’t there … or if [insert Twitter handle here] is Parsons’ real account.
